Plymouth County Outreach to be a mentor in fight against opioids

Excerpted from: Sippican Week | Sippican, MA (1/8/20)

Plymouth County Outreach, a program that fosters collaboration between law enforcement, medical professionals, and community coalitions, has been selected as a mentor site for Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities’ Law Enforcement/First Responder Diversion and Referral Mentoring Initiative.

PCO will serve as a mentor to other law enforcement and first responder agencies across the country in their efforts to respond to the opioid crisis.

Mentor sites were selected through a competitive process to participate in the program, which will fund peer-to-peer site visit opportunities for law enforcement and first responder agencies to visit mentor agencies.

The eight sites represent a diverse cross-section of successful diversion programs and collaborations between law enforcement and first responders, behavioral health providers, and other community partners to connect individuals with opioid use disorder to treatment, instead of entering the criminal justice system.
